Estimate only. Gravel = area × base depth × (1 + compaction) × (1 + waste) ÷ 27 cubic yards; sand bedding = area × sand depth × (1 + waste) ÷ 27. Weights assume about 1.4 tons per cu yd for crushed stone and 1.35 for bedding sand, but density varies with stone type and moisture — confirm with your supplier before ordering. The right base depth, geotextile fabric and drainage depend on your soil and the load (patio vs driveway), so follow local guidance and buy a little extra.
