K-Factor Calculator

Find the K-factor and flat blank length for a sheet-metal bend. Enter the thickness, inside bend radius, bend angle and flange legs, then pick a material (or type your own K), and get the K-factor, bend allowance, bend deduction, outside setback and the flat blank length — plus by-angle and by-radius tables, a chart, and a downloadable PDF.

US units (inches). K-factor = distance from the inside face to the neutral axis ÷ thickness. Bend allowance = angle(rad) × (R + K × T); bend deduction = 2 × outside setback − bend allowance; flat length = Leg A + Leg B − bend deduction (outside dimensions, single bend). Material K-factors shown here are typical air-bending starting points and vary with the press, die opening, tooling and material lot. A shop planning aid only — always confirm the K-factor and flat blank with a test bend on scrap before cutting production parts.
