Concrete Steps Calculator

Estimate how much concrete a set of poured steps or a stoop needs. Enter the number of steps, the rise and run of each step and the width, add a top landing if there is one, then set a waste allowance and bag size. You'll get the solid staircase volume in cubic feet and cubic yards, how many bags of pre-mix to buy, and the ready-mix or bagged cost — with a by-number-of-steps comparison, a bags-by-size table, a chart, and a downloadable PDF report.

US feet and inches. Solid steps form a staircase: side cross-section area = rise × run × N(N+1)/2, times the width, plus any landing (platform depth × total rise × width). This assumes a solid pour to the ground; hollow or fill-and-cap steps use less concrete. Volume is converted at 27 cubic feet per cubic yard; bag yields are 80 lb ≈ 0.60, 60 lb ≈ 0.45, 40 lb ≈ 0.30 cu ft. Confirm quantities, rebar and code (rise/run limits) with your supplier. An estimate, not professional advice.

1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet. For small step pours, bagged mix is often the simplest option.
