Estimate only. Blocks = net wall area ÷ block face coverage × (1 + waste), rounded up; a 16 × 8″ block covers about 0.889 sq ft (≈1.125 blocks per sq ft). Mortar bags = blocks ÷ blocks-per-bag — and mortar yield varies a lot with joint thickness, block type and mix, so treat the bag count as a guide and buy a little extra. Site-mixed mortar also needs sand. Always confirm block, bond-beam, rebar and footing requirements with your engineer or local building code.
