Gallons Per Minute Calculator

Measure water flow rate with a timed fill test. Collect water in a container, time how long it takes, and get the flow in gallons per minute — plus gallons per hour and day, liters per minute, m³/h and CFS, a flow rating, how long it would take to fill a tank, and how many fixtures it can run. Includes a by-fill-time table and a downloadable PDF.

US units (gallons, GPM). Flow rate (GPM) = volume in gallons ÷ time in seconds × 60. Open the fixture fully, time a steady fill, and run the test a few times for an average. Well output can drop as the pressure tank draws down, so a short test may read high while a longer draw shows the sustained yield. Typical fixture flows are general figures. For well-yield or pump-sizing decisions, confirm with a licensed well driller or plumber.

Fill time = tank size ÷ flow rate. Cost uses your water rate per 1,000 gallons; sewer and fixed charges are extra.
